Wombat, he's got a great spread in the 'Outback'. He's very carefull not to give his location away coz he's wanted by the Oz rozzers. I got a fix on him tho' when he was 'on-line', the 'outback' of N.S.W. but I'm not giving his location away. I'll grass him up to the cops when they raise the reward for him tongue.gif

More of his pics to follow

Wombat- cooking his 'roast' for dinner.
No 'Supermarket shopping' for Wombat just goes out and does a bit o' rustlin rolleyes.gif
('Remember to send a pic of that big oven you have, Wombat)

This is his rustlin' wagon, shopping trolley - out at night 3/4 lambs shoved in it and he's off like the clappers!

Posted by: Tommy Kennedy 20th Feb 2010, 02:50pm

He sends a pic of a 'wanted' poster. Note the V R....Queen Victoria's time. 8 thousand quid, huge amount of money back then.

I've got a pic of his, Wombat's 'Wanted poster' but I'm not showing it, some of you might try to beat me for the reward money rolleyes.gif

Wombat has an outside 'Solar oven' - also produces his own eletric with lots of 'solar pans' on roof.
Big Garden, loads of veg - so with his rustling he's self suffcient - The good life'!

These pictures are just a delight - I absolutely love animals, dogs in particular - you've got some cuties there for sure Wombat and, what lovely views.

The only critters you've got that I would hate are the creepy crawlies - can't stand spiders, they terrify me.

Posted by: Tommy Kennedy 21st Feb 2010, 03:41pm

HIs dogs/cats, you might like Carmella- don't thin you'd like creepy crawies all ove his spread snakes/lizards in the garden - giant spiders in the hoose rolleyes.gif

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh! is that a ghost with the arm round you Wombat? Spooky!

Tommy you are so right, spiders absolutely terrify me and, they always have since I was a wee girl, I can't be in the same room as any of them and don't like to go to close to trees in case there are some hanging around. It's the same scenario when I'm sitting outdoors. I am constantly on edge in case one of them is near me.

Wombat's made a great life for himself in the 'outback' THEE. Got a large spread, great house. I don't mean a 'posh' house - a house with all the necessities of life. With his rustlin' rolleyes.gif and garden, no supermarket shopping for him! Has 2 big handsome strapping sons - obviously don't take after him but his 'Dear Lady - and he may be a sloppy lout tongue.gif but he got his sons well educated, thru to uni.

I've asked him to re-send pics of his house inside/outside
Got to admit, I'd be reluctant to grass him up to the Oz cops....But for a large reward??????

Posh house? I wouldn't need that ... Mary's different tho'.
There was a time, in my youth, I wanted to follow the Ausi trail but the paths I followed led in a different direction. I know I would have been another wombat, nae bother, but I'd probably have finished up in the outskirts of a big city instead of near the Woomera Range.
Look forward to seeing all that you can post.

More pics later..Thee....got loads to post

As said, didn't mean posh house - wombat knows/found what's important in life.
Mystery tho' how he got a lovely/cultured/sophisicated wife tongue.gif

I've seen some of the 'Outback' in N.W. Oz

Wombat - these are terrific pictures Tommy has posted for you.

You've got a nice life it sounds like - my goodness all those lovely wee dogs - see now I'd be in doggy heaven if I was surrounded by many of these little things.

I love animals.

However, I don't eat meat, pork, lamb etc. I mainly live on chicken and fish apart from veggies. I'm not veggitarian, but close enough - I've been that way since very young - around 9 years old - and that was about 52 years ago LOL.

THH - you're right to say what you have. No, in fact, as much as I hate them, I couldn't kill them or any other, creature to be honest.

I'd ban them from the planet of course. My husband used to catch them and take them outside too, fortunately, the ones we get here are not dangerous. But, to someone like me, it's no matter, they just terrify me even those tiny itsy bitsy ones.

In fact, such is the nature of my phobia, I was in my mid 40s before I could even mention the word, I'd go all round the houses describing them as 'you know those crawly things' etc., and then one day I managed to actually utter the word 'spider' even typing the word on here sends shivers all round my body and, I get pins and needles in my arms and back - It's an awful phobia for those who suffer badly from it.

Posted by: TeeHeeHee 23rd Feb 2010, 01:22pm

Now I do feel sorry for you. I don't mind picking them up although it's difficult with the spindly leg ones but then I use an old drinking glass (kept for that purpose) and a beer mat.
My only phobia is deep water where I cant see my own torso when in it.
Titanic had me almost shakin' when I watched it with Mary on TV.
She asked me if she should switch it over unsure.gif wub.gif

Now I heard that over here, people have tried Emu farms, for the fur I believe but don't know how successful or otherwise it would be.

Nice cakes you make too Wombat.

Loved the wee goat's lambs or baby goats, can't remember now what you call them, but they do look like wee lambs.

Many a spider to be found in there I'd imagine yuck!!

I can't swim Tommy and am terrified of water also, and yet I love boats. I used to go out in my father's boat with him all the time, never could imagine what would happen if I'd fallen overboard, don't even think I gave that a thought LOL - I tried to take swimming lessons but to no avail.

For Gawd's sake, Carmella, don't put ideas into his head - they'll be nae wild life in Oz tongue.gif .

I've seen some strange sights in Oz, Wombat, and not knowing what they were - came outa pub in Bowen, G/Lands - a one street town then - walking back to ship found myself surrounded by hundreds and i do mean hundreds of giant toads. In the moonlight frightened the hell outa me!

Posted by: Tommy Kennedy 24th Feb 2010, 12:53am

My son's got a boat with 4 bunk beds on it Carmella, has it on the river Dee here in the summer; takes it up to the Lake district in the winter. I'll go on it for cruise on the river but never on Lake Windermere; yet I've been in 'Perfect storms' at sea and it's not bothered me, odd isn't

Posted by: carmella 24th Feb 2010, 12:57am

I don't think it's too odd Tommy. My father was in the Royal Navy and he felt the same way.
When we used to go out in his boat, he preferred it when it was windy days - because of the sails, but also not a dead calm sea.

Posted by: Tommy Kennedy 24th Feb 2010, 01:05am

TeeHeeHee,

If you ever come on a visit to Oz, I'd think twice about lifting up the spiders to put them back out into the garden.

There;s a guy called Atraxus Robustus out here whose bite packs a real wallop ! Just ask Wombat !

TeeHeeHee,

If you ever come on a visit to Oz, I'd think twice about lifting up the spiders to put them back out into the garden.

There;s a guy called Atraxus Robustus out here whose bite packs a real wallop ! Just ask Wombat !

Tombro rolleyes.gif

I believe you. I remember in Cyprus what looked like a locust landed on our table and I quickly put a beer glass over it to study it better.
It must have been a Glasgow Locust!
It just head butted the glass and walked out of the 2" high and 1" wide opening which it created. We just looked at each other thinkin' fair enuff. rolleyes.gif

He had a gang of Kangaroos around his spread the other day.
He challenges you to find, count them - as he says they are very hard to 'see' they blend in with the surroundings BUt they are there, try 'Full screen'

Would love to Tomski, but you'd have to up the size of your pictures for the to work.

Posted by: Tommy Kennedy 25th Feb 2010, 11:39am

Can be done,I'm trying to remember how I done it in the past, THEE. I can do it when the pics arrive on email.

The roos ARE there. The first and only time I went to Wyndham, N.W. Oz - was there a couple of weeks waiting for the cattle to arrive, then being slaughtered - went Roo hunting.

Wyndham a one street place, John Wayne town: there was nothing else for the crew to do there (Except for me of course who went Crocodile wrestleling laugh.gif )

THe 'constable' there hired out guns and horses to the crew, took us roo hunting. Then you got a quid for every roo's tail you handed in - in Eastern Oz you got fined for shooting roos.

The cop would point; there, there! there';s about a dozen of them - couldn't see them until he fired a shot and distturbed them.
When it came to it tho' I couldn't shoot any, they weren't doing me any harm.

Wombat I need to ask you a question which is burning into me.

Living as you do in the Outback, when you are indoors or, watching tv or even in your bed sleeping - do any of those nasty spiders venture inside the house.

See, the thought of that terrifies me and I find myself worried for you and your wife, then again I realize that's a bit daft as you've been well used to this for years in Oz since a young boy.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but I've often been curious, because even over here, we still get them in the house. I was sitting watching tv one night a couple of years back around October time - which for me is the worst time of the year, anyway this thing appeared crawling along the floor from nowhere that I could see. I ran out of the room and didn't go back in until my neighbour from next door had to come in to get it outside.

Posted by: wombat 10th Mar 2010, 09:14pm

Posted by: TeeHeeHee 10th Mar 2010, 10:40pm

Carmella, I can't for the life of me understand why women run out of the house turning it over completely to the squatter; my ex-wife was like that; did my head in.
Now Mary, she just gets a glass and imprisons it, slides a beer mat under the glass and removes it to the garden.
You are probably about 6,500 times bigger than your average big Scottish spider, coocaracha, or beetle. rolleyes.gif

Criticism from a guy that can't work out how to use 'Photobucket' and had to stay on at school a year longer than me because he was 'A wee bit slow' tongue.gif

Posted by: carmella 11th Mar 2010, 12:03am

The problem for me THH is that when you have a bad phobia which I have, you cannot even be in the same room, let alone get the glass and card under it - you see, I couldn't be that close to a spider.

Thanks for the answer Wombat - but I'd never be able to sleep! I'd be up all night and, if I was up all night - you'd be up all night.

Juts had more fotos thru from Wombat- will post later.
Hasn't he made a great life for himself/family out there, great example for his sons. He knows what's important in life.

a cockateel tommy,very friendly .

Remember once going horse riding in country, outsied of Port Adelaide - saw this solitery tree in barren land; seemed to have huge blooms on it. As I rode up to investigate dozens of the blooms flew off - they were cockateels!

Oh, look at the little one, below mother, in first pic!

Hi Wombat, posting photo's is easy peasy once you get used to it. Generally you should check on your computer where your photo's are and know which one you want to select for the post and that its not too big to be uploaded, quite a lot of them will upload no bother, now see the Browse button below when your typing your'e reply/comment, thats where you click first, then a pop up appears for you to choose where the file that holds all your photo's in usually My Photo's file, well you click on that and choose which one you need then click UPLOAD then click on Add Reply... anyhoos probably best to look into Cash's topic about computers. Hope some of that to start with helps.

Have been looking in on your topic and find it quite entertaining and enjoying the photo's...Cheers!

Auldbutch, Strongly recomend you encourage G/son to get to Oz, told you my 20 year old G/son is out there now and he's havinga ball (based now at Airlie beach Q/land - above)

Below is what he 'posted' on Facebook Yesterday.

Calvin Pearson -back from wrk today, 1 night in then back out for another 6 days round the whitsundays. not too bad i suppose as i did see alot of dolphins and a few sharks and the weather was perfect :)on

He says there is plenty of work as long as you're prepared to take any job. He arrived at Sydney, got a job pulling pints in a Sydney pub. Then saw an advert for hotel workers at 'Airlie Beach' Queensland - looked it up on the net: thought, wow! that's the place for me. Was working in the hotel bars; a posh couple offered him a job on their yacht - dogsbody, has 8 of a crew.

Now he's sailing around the 'Whitsundays' islands' - a group of 74 islands off the Great Barrier reef, some inhabited some not. He and 3/4 other lads have rented a house at Airlie Beach.
As said he's having a great time -seeing something of the world and not out 'binge drinking' every night.
Now adays it is easy to keep in touch with family from Oz -mobile phone cost, 15 pence a minute and of course email.

Cost to get out there is about 400 .00, Butch

I think every youngster, girls as well, should have period when young, of only themselves to think of.

Calvin/G/son and his mate showing off they survived the hrurricane. - of course to them it was an adventure!
THey were without electricty for 3 days, also fresh water. Oz Red cross rushed thru bottle water and packed meals.
Oz government declared it a 'Disaster zone' gave them money they missed by not having work. Red Cross also gave them money. All the back packers in Q/Land got aid from government/red cross

Fantastic as usual Tommy Kennedy, and of course Wombat.
Now if only wombat had a video camera these images would make a great tv series.

That's great Wombat, and look at the wee bits of info you offer as well, fantastic.

You've an entire treasure trove of images and interesting information there. I'm tellin ya, all of that coupled together would make great tv.

I've seen some nature programs that weren't really all that interesting and far inferior to all that you are offering, and many of the producers of these programs just visit a country to film.
You are actually living where you're surrounded by these beautiful creatures, so go on, get your camera rolling and make yourself a couple of million. smile.gif

Just received your 2 more pics of ‘Joey’, Wombat that I’ll post in a minute.
Got a suggestion for you: ‘Joey’ seems to be well liked and I think the members would like to see how it gets on.
Maybe the ‘Dear Lady’, who, unlike yourself tongue.gif is ‘cultured and sophisticated’, Could keep a little daily diary of Joey’s progress; what he gets up to etc- email me it, accompanied by photos, and I will post it.
I would then start a separate ,thread for Joey (Transferring existing photos to it). I’m sure all here would love to see its progress.
