Great Photos Possilboy, a lot of good memories for you there, the only one I can remember is Davie Macpharlane.

DannyH not a hair out of place sounds more like Billy Teasy Weasy McPail. biggrin.gif
But could very well have been Mochan, years later as part of the training staff he would come running on to the field to attend to someone looking as if he had just come out of the shower.

Hello Possilboy

Thanks for showing the photo of the team with Willie Shankly in it. Its good to know I can remember things that happened many years ago.

It's a pity I can't remember what I did an hour ago!

Regards

Jackie Husband was one of my Dad's favourite players, I see his photo in one of these pictures. It brought back memories when Dad took me to the Thistle games, I would go in the 'boy's gate' and he would meet me inside!

I worked with a guy in the early 70's. He lived across the road from Firhill. If he could not attend a Home Game he sent his Daugjter over with his admission money !!

Hello Elma

Jackie Husband was one of my favourite players too. He was one of the longest throwers taking a shy. Apparently he was a heavy smoker, something like 40 cigarettes a day!

One of the things that annoys me about record books such as the Evening Times, Wee Red book, is that he is listed as having only one International cap when he played for Scotland against Wales in 1947. I know that World War II Internationals didn't count towards a players caps, but Jackie played left half and I am sure Hugh Brown of Partick Thistle played right half in the first International against England after the war. It was known as the Victory International, and was played at Hampden.

Jackie took a free kick well out from the English goal. Willie Waddell of Rangers, outjumped the English defence and headed it down to Jimmy Delaney of Celtic, who thumped it into the net. Scotland won the game 1-0.
Jimmy Delaney won medals with Celtic, Manchester United and either in Wales or Ireland (perhaps both). When he finished his footballing career he finished up working as a labourer in Ravensgraig steel works. Like many of his generation, including Jackie Husband, he would have retired as a millionaire if he had been paid the type of money some present day players receive.

Regards

Danny Harris

Partick Th 2 - Livingston 0. A win is a win, not the best game of the season, made to work for the 3 points but can now look forward to next weeks cup tie against the Pars.

Winter is well and truly here, once it got dark the temperature plummeted......BBBBBRRRRRR......looking out the long johns for next week.

I agree with JAGS1876, It wasn't our best performance, especially in the first half but we took control in the second and won comfortably in the end. Credit to Livie too for playing a passing game - no blootering it up the park, looking for breakaways or cynical fouling.
We've won all our home games - looking forward now to next Saturday's cup-tie against Dunfermline. 'Mon the Jags!

Durachdan,

Eddy

Well-presented highlights, including a wee arty shot of the Maryhill skyline, from the Livingston web-site.
The second goal is a cracker.

Durachdan,

Eddy

Up for the Cup tomorrow at Firhill with the Jags playing Dunfermline. Prices down to 12 for adults, 5 for oaps like me - children and students.
Looking forward to this one after the recent rout.

Durachdan,

Eddy
