I remember that putting green well, it is right in front of Deerpark Gardens in Tollcross Road. My grandparents lived there and my mum was brought up there so I recognised the picture instantly. I lived further up the road in the next block of tenements which were called Rock Dove. It was the best bit of Tollcross to live in at the time - I think. When it snowed we used to play in that area with sledges too. Thanks for posting it.

I was born in 18 Easterhill Place Tollcross in 1948. It was my grandparents house we lived with them until 1953 when we moved to our own house in Carntyne. My grandparents were Robert (Bob) and Mary Grant. I briefly went to Wellshot Road school before transferring to Carntyne school.Also there was my brother Sandy and sister Elizabeth.

I have been reading about fights attempted murders and all kinds of crimes in Tollcross, I lived in Altyre Street from 1941 to 1961 it was a great place to live we would hand out in the summer till 11 p.m. in the evening and wait for out mothers to call us in. There was no crime , it seems the place has gone to wreck and ruin, why can anyone say, it make me so sad. I went to Wellshot School and had a great time was never scared to walk home from my friends in Sandyhills. I just wondered what had happened in this great area.

I was brought up in Tollcross Causewayside Street in the 60s, my Dads side was brought up in Tollcross lived on Tollcross road.
My mothers side came from Dalness street next to the farm Formerly Egypt.

My father in law was born in Tollcross (Easterhill Place) in 1940 and his father had a building business at one point in Causewayside Street. Family name is Sievewright and I think they lived there until early 1950s when they moved to Shettleston.

looking for info on janet cotton parentsare benjamin cotton and elizabeth cotton nee sharp, janet died march 20th 1937 would love to know if she had any brothers or sisters or if there is still family alive she lived at 56 causewayside street tollcross. rolleyes.gif

was born at battleburn st otherwise known as the chuckie, then lived between my granny doc in corbett st and my mammy and daddy's in tollcross road at drumover drive. went to quarrybrae primary then wellshot secondary. went tae the brownies in victoria church , christian endevour at central church, was in the singing company in the sally army. then a discovered boy's and it was the palais roller skating and clouds disco.

Hi, was born in Altyre Street... 1958. Moved out to Sandyhills 1974. True what I read earlier, used to be a safe place to live and play as a kid.

Where exactly was Battleburn Street/Road? My Grandfather's sister Alice McLaughlin lived there way back in the 1930s.
