I would imagine that Australia's government and its priorities are under more scrutiny now, Wombat, after the disastrous Summer your beautiful land has suffered?

What happened to "and now for something completely different"? rolleyes.gif

Your constant attempts to try and turn this thread into a climate change diversion has become a dead parrot, now why don't you just do a silly walk to the proper thread that Danny started. wink.gif

I write 150 words, and you pick out just those two. unsure.gif

That is but one in a long queue of issues currently behind independence at the door of Bute House.

Despite encompassing the best part of a decade and even Brexit, this debate has never persuaded a majority of us to leave the UK, nevermind reaching Nicola's 60% legitimacy threshold. On both sides, for some it has become a fight to the death.

If the SNP government was to now shelve this obsession and really prioritise other more pressing issues in this window of opportunity before next May's election, then I could respect that, but I don't anticipate it. If Sturgeon's administration was to put as much energy into promoting, let's say, climate change or community cohesion or anything besides winning Indyref, then I'm sure her legacy of achievements in power could be many and varied. If for once in her premiership she would govern for the people not the party and call a long overdue truce on the constitution, then she'd be the current leader Scotland needs.

It's next May, as in, May of next year. The circus has left town, and now...

What's the point?

There is a Scottish election next May.

Glad to hear that, looking forward to you getting back on topic. wink.gif

What's the point?

There is a Scottish election next May. Nothing is about to change, because the FM has thankfully resisted calls from the hardliners in her Party, so it's a case of watch and see now as far as the Brexit negotiations go.

In the meantime, the country has a 12 month grace period to stop picking at old wounds if we so choose and channel our energies toward more urgent causes. These do exist!
