Hi I recognise the name Liddell and McPhail. My maternal great grandfather was Williamson Harper Liddell (Joiner) and my maternal great grandmother was Margaret McPhail (Domestic Servant) (great great grandfathers John McPhail, Collery Manager and Thomas Liddell, Joiner. Williamson and Margaret had 5 girls one of who was my grandmother Margaret Liddell. They lived in Thistle St married 1879, went to Boston and returned to Glasgow and resided in the Gorbals district. Williamson Liddell passed away 1939 aged about 83yrs. Margaret Liddell married David McCartney and they lived in Hill St, Garnethall in 1925 to middle of the 30s. Being attempting to do the family tree but it is an endless job!! Trying to trace what happened to my grandmother's 4 sisters??? who would have resided in the area and passed on probably by 1970 or thereabouts. Don't have the sister's names yet as this side of the family died before I was born. Maybe some connection there if you pick up this message and recall the family, unfortunately the sisters would probably have married too smile.gif

Does anyone know of Agnes Whiteside Liddell who worked as a hospital maid in the 50s and lived at Eastburn Road. Her father was Peter Henderson Liddell and her mother was Bessie.
Agnes emigrated to N.Z roughly 1959.

I remember the Liddles. We (the Bruces) lived next door at 84 Eastburn Road. They were at 82.

I was very young at that time in 47/52 so I can't give any details other than I remember Margaret and Billy.

Norrie.
