Mags I heard that the houses around Collina St were scheduled to be demolished. This past week all the old property on Cowal st Lochgilp St-the area known as the Bundy has been flattened and I believe new housing is going up there. The area is changing quite dramatically yet again.

I just found this website. What a pleasure. When I was home a few years ago I picked up a little book "Old Maryhill" just full of old pictures. It really takes a person back. Will tell others about this site.

I did read one message about the locations of the pubs on Maryhill Road. Who ever wrote it got them all right. I was born at 1008 Maryhill Road, the last building before Maryhill Park. We didn't have a penny to spare, but what a childhood. Wouldn't change it for the world. smile.gif

Thankyou all for warm welcome. My mother used to work in French's newsagents when she was just a young thing. She lost her father and neice (who she was raising) in the blitz. They lived in Kilmun street. Thank you Lord Provost.

My mother was a Stirling - when she married she became a Beveridge. She used to talk about the Blood family who were all lost in the Blitz.

QUOTE
From K32a1r1m:

I think the pub across from the tram car depot was called the first and the last. It was the last pub if you were leaving Glasgow heading out to Bearsden, and the first heading in to Glasgow.  Dawsholm Road was across the street from the entrance to Maryhill Park, but I don't remember a pub there. I was born in 1008 Maryhill Road, the last building before Maryhill Park.
