Billy Connolly, who once revelead that he was kept awake for days worrying about how the guy who drives the snowplough gets to work in the morning, has become the latest celebrity to lend his voice to the in-car satellite navigation system.

Billy, 67, introduces himself to drivers with the words:
QUOTE
"Hello, this is Billy Connolly. Yes, it's really me. Not the creepy guy on the birthday cards, it really is me. No swearing; no dirty bits. I'll keep you safe."

Some of Billy's satnav instructions include quips such as:
QUOTE
  • "Toll charge ahead ... don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger."
  • "Make a U-turn now. This wouldn't have been necessary if you had been listening a minute ago."
  • "U turn ahead. I'll be here when you get back."
  • "Turn round. Turn round the whole car, not just you inside the car."
  • "After 300 yards you will have reached your destination. You may thank me and remember that without me none of this would have been possible."

Here a few out-takes from the satnav system by clicking the links below:

The Billy Connolly turn-by-turn navigation is available to download for TomTom's 40 million customers, costing 8.99.

I wouldn't trust Sir William Connolly's sense of direction since he took the High Road to England out of Scotland during the 1979 Devolution Debacle.

Listening to that musichall west end voice would drive me nuts. He should have reverted back to his natural accent, after all, very few drivers outside the Glasgow area would buy this satnav.

Withoot commentin on his comedic talents - or lack thereof - ah think a Dalek wid hiv a beter claim tae bein the voice of Glesga. Billy's synthetic accent is a weird amalgam of pan loaf Kelvinside and Laird of Auchtermuchty and bears no relation whatever tae a genuine Glesga accent.

I find this video disgusting. Billy Connolly, in his usual inimitable way, has taken what could have been a very funny monologue, and demeaned the story, himself and the wonderful people of Glasgow with his unacceptable language.

Your right Billy does have A bad mouth,he makes us all look liike idiots or sounds like we are. But he has to make money the only way he can. I am sure he could do or say somthing better than that. I never saw him live to at anytime. He did A show with carson talk show host American late show, all he talked about was history of queen Marry who was French, and Bonnie prince charlie was Italain, had to make himself seem important, and knew it all. Never listen to him again, but guess he has fun with it, like educated idiot. rolleyes.gif If it makes him happy or others at our expense then I would not give him the light of day Scotland and Glasgow are improtant to me, and the people. Proud.

I absolutely adored Billy when he first started. laugh.gif I bought a couple of his LPs and I still laugh at them. Then, when he started to swear more and more, I just couldn't be bothered with him. I still thought he was funny, but you had to listen to all that foul language to hear the story, so I gave up.

I really enjoyed his World Tours on telly and have started to listen to him again. I think I'd love the SatNav - but so long as there is no swearing!
