Scots pair to lead convoy of vintage vehicles to mark Tall Ship's voyage

May 3 2009 Marion Scott

THEY are Scotland's answer to On The Buses' Stan Butler and Blakey.

Now Alistair Ramsay and Ian Short are to bring the classic show to life for thousands of new passengers.

The pair have spent 10 years tinkering with more than 100 vintage vehicles in a huge garage in Bridgeton, Glasgow.

Tomorrow the buses will take passengers from the city centre to Tall Ship The Glenlee to mark the vessel's 1913 round-the-world voyage.

"We get spare parts from as far afield as Australia, scrapyards and eBay.

"We even have the 1922 wooden bus used in the original Dr Finlay's Casebook TV series."

The pair also have a 1920s tram and an old Army Green Goddess fire tender.

The free buses leave George Square at 10am.

I'd love to be there, Dolkin, especially if any of those buses are decked out in the Glasgow Corporation livery of the late 1950's.

However, as Oz is on the far side of the world, attendance at such short notice is impossible so could you, or any others who attend please, if at all possible, post some piccies of the occasion.
