as a young boy in the 50's living in shettleston i used to go to the odeon club on a saturday morning, i think it was sixpence to get in...i dont remember any of the films but it was always noisy! this was the odeon in amulree street i think? on your birthday they sent you a card which allowed you to take a friend for free admission i nearly always went with george wishart who lived in ardgay street in sandyhills his father had a greengrocers on shettleston road and we would go in there on our way home ah the smell of beetroot cooking in the boiler out the back and sometimes he would give us a few pennies for sweets happy days!!!
