Hi Arnold,

Good question. It's certainly just off Bardowie Street, but not sure which street: I thought Burmola or Carbeth, but I'm not that sure that the type of tenement is correct. The tenements in Trainspotting are the most basic construction, for the poorest class of workers.

I wish I had taken more photos of Possilpark before the effects of class genocide resulted in the area's (once home to much of my family) inevitable destruction. It wasn't that easy to carry a camera and photograph the place in the 1990s. Tended to draw quite a bit of attention, and much of it not very welcoming. That said, if you look at the links below, I'm sure it's in that area:

It's somewhere near photos: 28, 32, 33, 34 & 35.

Thanks Possilboy. Yes, I think some scenes were filmed in Ruchill, but I think we are correct about the above being in the neighbourhood of Burmola Street.

I am now sure that the firt one was actually taken from Auckland Street, looking diagonally towards the corner of Hobart Street and Bardowie Street. I attach an image from Google maps of where I think the shot was taken.

Here's a link to the Google maps 2008 version, which shows the place better because the grass is shorter. In the first photo above, I'm sure that you can see the roof of the Hawthorn Bar across the derelict land.

Just found the following page. Look at number 11, where the site suggests the locations are closer towards Saracen Street than Auckland Street. Personally, I think that site is wrong because of the location of the two story house on the corner.
