I was born in the Southern General and lived in Penilee up to the age of 17, when we moved to Stewarton. We lived in Hollybush Road at the front of the Scheme. My Dad was well known as Wee Joe and he ran a football team for the local kids in the 70s called Sandwood Thistle. I went to St. George's Primary and Lourdes Secondary and have lived in the South of England from the 1980s. Joe McKeraghan

I was brought up in Penilee Terrace from 1958. Nearly got killed running across the road bridge after trying to drip "chuckies" down the funnel of a steam train..YES!!! Steam train..haha
Played football on the vacant ground and don't know how many red plastic balls I bought after them being punctured by the tree thorns.

My first school was Craigmuir Primary then the little annex and then on to Sandwood Primary. I saw the building of Penilee Secondary School from the class window.

In my first year at Penilee Secondary School I saw a young girl run over by the No17 Bus to Govan Cross..My first experience of death..Sad but true.

I left Penilee after I got married in 1969 to live in Cumbernauld (Fort Knox) and in 1971 I emigrated to Melbourne Australia.

I am now living in Bendigo Victoria and enjoying my retirement.

If you want to chat just send me a message..
