we took citizenship only because when we went back to the UK we had to go to a lot of bother to prove we had every right to re-enter Australia,at one stage we were stranded in Scotland and our kids at home in Australia,so it wasn`t a hard decision to make, and we have dual citizenship, which is painless. What is the relevance of this anyway Carmella,...just askin`

I did Carmella, South Africa has been extremely good to me and I always believed that if you want to praise or complain about a government you have to be a citizen and pay you taxes. It is also the reason that I do not get involved often with the Brexit/ Independence discussions.

Well Zascot, I’m pleased to hear it. My cousin did the same thing. I think you do as you have done to put something back to the country where you have spent most of your life, and where you have added to that country’s economy. You pay taxes there, and you vote there.

For all the other reasons you gave. I take my hat off to you.

SA is a beautiful country btw!

Taurus no-one can fault your loyalties to your family. You also have a say in what happens in Australia!

Do you still think Scotland will be better served by Boris and Co than people who actually live here and care about Scotland Carmella? unsure.gif

I don’t want the UK split up Jagz, it is as simple as that, and I want us to be in control of our own laws. Simply put!

I already have stated that I dislike Referendums. One of the reasons is population. It stands to reason that as the population in England in 2017 was almost 56 million, Northern Ireland just over 1.8 million, Wales 3.2 million, Scotland 5.4 million, any Referendum was bound to be carried by England’s vote, regardless of what for because the population is greater.

The only genuine Referendum, therefor, in my humble opinion is the one of a single country, i.e. in this case Scotland. Scotland’s population alone taking part regardless of which party they support. We did this and voted to remain within the UK.

Well explained Carmella. If I was still there I think I would be of a similar mind to you.

Thank you, love your profile pic. I am a big animal lover, but that’s a discussion for another day!

So you don't think nor care whether Scotlands best interests will be served as long as we remain as part of a Greater England, and with England and Wales getting to leave the EU and NI being allowed to remain in the EU under Johnsons deal you don't mind that Scotland is the only country that won't get what it voted for?
