A team of paranormal experts visited Glasgow's oldest bar at 3.35am yesterday to investigate alleged ghostly goings-on. Spirit Finders, Glasgow's answer to Ghostbusters, were keen to investigate the Scotia Bar's spooky past. The pub in Stockwell Street has long been associated with paranormal activity and the five-strong team were not to be disappointed when they picked up a moving figure traversing the bar on their wide array of cameras, camcorders, voice recorders, ghost detectors and temperature sensors.

Strange incidents associated with the pub include two deaths which have been reported in or near the Scotia, which has quenched the thirst og Glasgow drinkers since 1792. Both deaths were "detected" within minutes by Shania, a self-declared psychic 'white witch' and integral member of the group, who was keen to point out that she had never been in the establishment before.

Shania, was keen to explain the shadow which crossed the bar, saying:
QUOTE
"A man hanged himself in here in the cellar, he worked in the bar. It was his home from home. But something tipped him over the edge. One day he came in here and took his own life. The last thing he saw was that wall."

Bar manager Mary Rafferty, seemed to confirm Shania's speculation, adding:
QUOTE
"I hadn't told them anything about the bar's history. But their depictions of past events are accurate," said Rafferty. A Scotia manager hanged himself in the bar in the 1970s. It's not a well-known fact. You'd have to trawl through hundreds of newspapers to find that out. It's sad to think he might still be there."

I'm going round to the Riverford/Shawbridge halloween party this afternoon. Kids from local primary schools will be all dressed up. Also there will be a film showing so I hope the rain stays away. It was all supposed to be held in the Kirk Lane graveyard, but somebody might have got hurt falling over a grave and it's in the middle of a reVAMP tongue.gif
